KOMBI stair and platform systems - Staying on track with safe access
Sandringham Line - South Yarra Sidings, South Yarra VIC
John Holland Group
Major rail upgrade works have been a constant sight around many parts of Melbourne since 2016 and with a completion date of 2022 they will remain a regular occurrence for many months to come.
Partnering with John Holland, the project involved the installation of platforms to enable access to heavy electrical boxes near the South Yarra Station. Due to the location, it was preferred that the system selected be installed by hand and that no hot works were carried out in the near vicinity.
A simple to put together system that could be easily installed and would enable the project to fit into designated timelines needed to be sourced.
Working closely with John Holland, SAYFA was tasked to design a platform to enable maintenance crews to safely access electrical enclosure boxes.
SAYFA's technical team knew that the KOMBI platform system would be the ideal product but they were also aware that it would need specialised engineering to be able to handle the weight and wind loads specified.
After visiting on-site to assess the exact requirements, our team provided detailed shop drawings, and production began in our manufacturing facility.
Once completed, the products were delivered to site where John Holland personnel were able to install the platform themselves, making any on-site modifications required and saving on the cost and time delays of using specialist contractors.
As works continue to be rolled out to the Melbourne transport system, there are many more situations that will utilise KOMBI modular stair and platform systems.
KOMBI modular stair and platform systems use SAYFA's patented KOMBI T-Bolt which enables the components to fit together without requiring the need for specialist hand tools. The systems are fully engineered to ensure they meet the highest standards in safety.
