KOMBI access platform systems - Gaining easy access to railway equipment
Caulfield Railway Station, Caulfield East VIC
Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA)
With a total of 75 level crossings currently being removed in Melbourne, the Level Crossing Removal Project, is the largest Government project of its kind in Victoria's history. Additional works, in the areas of upgrading station equipment, are also taking place, all with an aim to significantly improve travel and safety throughout the metropolitan rail network.
KOMBI stair and platform systems have been previously used in other sections of the Level Crossing Removal Project, so it was no surprise when LXRA chose KOMBI when they needed a platform to access a monitor at the Caulfield Railway Station.
A site visit by the SAYFA technical team was initially necessary to ascertain specific requirements and to provide technical advice. From the information obtained, a custom built KOMBI access platform was designed and manufactured.
The supply of the components in kit form to site made for easy delivery and assembly was just as simple. As there are no specialist tools, trades or hot works required to assemble KOMBI platforms, LXRA personnel were able to install the entire system themselves, saving time and additional labour costs. Any adjustments that were needed were done there and then using KOMBI's patented T-Bolt, ensuring a perfect fit, worker safety and OHS compliance.
Another successful install completed with many more to come for the Level Crossing Removal Project.
What is the secret of KOMBI's flexibility and ease of install? It's all in a bolt - the KOMBI T-Bolt! Our simple but effective design allows on-site modifications to be done in a flash and means no welding or specialised personnel are required to carry out the installation. Adding to your peace of mind is the fact that KOMBI modular stair and platform systems are fully engineered and designed to conform with the requirements of Australian Standard AS 1657:2018.
