Sayfa are extremely proud to announce that we have made a donation towards the FareShare Kitchen Charity Garden.
This new community project garden is expected to produce over seven tonnes of fresh produce each year and will contribute to FareShare's preparation of over 25,000 nutritious meals every week to people in need.
What is FareShare?
This is a volunteer run program, located in Abbotsford. 700 regular volunteers prepare and cook the meals under the watchful guidance of professional chefs using bulk food donated by businesses. From their kitchen they distribute to tens of thousands of Victorians who are doing it extremely hard and not able to provide nutritional meals to their families.
Unfortunately fresh food supplies are becoming increasingly difficult for FareShare to source and with an ever increasing amount of Victorians experiencing hunger each year - an estimated 370,000 - an initative to supplement supplies by growing their own fresh vegetables will help alleviate the shortage.
Vacant, unused, small plots of land will be transformed into productive gardens to be maintained by volunteers who will be supervised by a qualified horticulturalist. Here, they envisage growing up to a tonne of high-yielding vegetables every month.
Sayfa are proud to support this wonderful charity who aim to increase their production over the next 12 months to 1.15 million meals. What an inspiration!
